what kind of world do we live in?

I wish we could bring in the new year with better than bad news. Our New Years eve was fine—low-key as planned. We fell asleep sometime after 10 PM, waking just in time to watch “New Years at the Needle” and listen to our neighbors light off louder-than-legal fire crackers. The Space Needle fireworks had a last-minute computer glitch causing the show to have to be manually—and sloppily—choreographed (improvised) by the technicians.

It was late on New Years Day when Charlie’s Uncle Jim called to inform us that their close friend was tragically killed the night before. We’re all in complete shock and are having a hard time figuring out how something so terrible could happen to such a kind, wonderful person. Shannon had not a single bad bone in her body and, in fact, had dedicated her life to the environment and making the world a better place.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Lori, Uncle Jim and everybody who knew and loved Shannon Harps.
